Costly Theft at National Sports Collectors Convention

The National Sports Collectors Convention in Cleveland came to an unfortunate conclusion for a sports card dealer from New Jersey who fell victim to a costly theft. As the event wrapped up on Sunday, July 28 at the I-X Center, the 48-year-old dealer was left stunned after discovering that approximately $275,000 in cash had been stolen from his vehicle.

The incident unfolded as the dealer was in the process of loading his SUV after the convention. It was then that he realized his black briefcase, containing the substantial amount of cash and two iPads, was missing. Despite believing that he had securely locked his vehicle, the thief managed to seize the briefcase while the dealer was momentarily away.

Cleveland Police First District detectives were quickly alerted and began investigating the theft. The missing briefcase, which had an air tag attached to it, was ultimately discovered on the I-X Center property. However, the significant sum of cash that had been tucked away inside was nowhere to be found, marking a substantial financial loss for the dealer.

Authorities are now on the lookout for two suspects believed to be connected to the theft. These individuals were spotted fleeing the scene in a blue Honda Odyssey van, leaving behind a trail of uncertainty and a dealer reeling from the calculated heist.

In a bid to crack the case and bring the culprits to justice, law enforcement is urging anyone with relevant information to come forward. Whether it be details on the suspects or potential leads, assistance from the public is instrumental in aiding the ongoing investigation.
