Topps and Disney Expand Trading Card Partnership

Topps, a prominent name in the world of trading cards, has joined forces with Disney Consumer Products to broaden their existing partnership. The deal now includes global rights for producing trading cards featuring fan-favorite characters and stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars.

This exciting expansion signifies a significant step for Topps as they embark on their first global distribution of Marvel trading cards. In addition to this venture into the Marvel universe, the collaboration continues Topps’ longstanding relationship with Star Wars, which has delighted collectors since 1977.

The initial release under this new agreement is the highly anticipated Topps Finest X-Men ’97, set to hit the market in the first quarter of 2025. This launch aligns with the renewed interest in the X-Men franchise and marks a milestone for Topps in the global distribution of Marvel trading cards.

The partnership encompasses both physical and digital trading cards for Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars franchises worldwide. While Topps has previously released digital collectibles through dedicated apps, this agreement significantly expands their physical product offerings, particularly in the United States.

Paul Gitter, Executive Vice President of Global Brand Commercialization at Disney Consumer Products, expressed excitement about the expanded collaboration. He highlighted the opportunity to bring storytelling from diverse brands to card collecting enthusiasts globally, emphasizing the innovative approach that Topps brings to the trading card space.

David Leiner, President of Trading Cards at Fanatics Collectibles, shared his enthusiasm for the strengthened partnership, noting the shared commitment to enhancing the fan experience. With a focus on innovation and fan engagement, the collaboration aims to deliver high-quality products that resonate with collectors worldwide.

Building on their successful history of producing trading cards in the EMEA region, Topps is now poised to expand its offerings globally, including in the U.S. market and beyond. By combining Disney’s rich storytelling with Topps’ expertise in collectible trading cards, the partnership seeks to create innovative products that captivate fans across the globe.

Collectors can anticipate a diverse range of new trading cards celebrating the enchantment of Disney, the imagination of Pixar, the thrill of Marvel superheroes, and the epic saga of Star Wars. This expanded partnership between Topps and Disney Consumer Products ushers in a new era for trading card enthusiasts, promising unparalleled access to beloved characters and stories from the entertainment world.
